Jamie O’Hara believes Nicolas Jackson is “on fire” and is turning into a really good striker following Chelsea’s victory against Leicester.
The Blues ran out 2-1 winners against the Foxes thanks to goals from Jackson and Enzo Fernandez on Enzo Maresca’s return to his former club.
The win means Chelsea stay third in the league, but they have the closed the gap on Manchester City to just a point following their defeat to Tottenham on Saturday night.
O’Hara impressed with Jackson
Jackson once again led the line for the Blues on Saturday lunchtime and he’s started every Premier League game this season.
The 23-year-old opened the scoring with a brilliant finish following some excellent work off the ball to register his seventh league goal of the season.
He’s already half way to his total of 14 goals from last season and at this rate the Senegal international is on track to score 20 league goals, which would be quite some achievement in just his second season.
Jackson was heavily criticised for his performances last season, especially for the amount of chances he missed, but this season he’s shown huge signs of improvement, particularly with his finishing.
However, this campaign he’s getting far more plaudits and Darren Bent believes he’s perfect for how Chelsea are looking to play.
Following his performance against Leicester O’Hara has claimed Jackson is proving people wrong and is actually turning into a really good striker.
“Nicolas Jackson’s on fire,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s proving people wrong. He can score goals week in and week out. He’s actually turning into a really good striker.”
Jackson now has 24 Chelsea goals in 57 appearances and at £32m is looking like very good value for money as he continues to keep the more established Christopher Nkunku out of the side.
A report from The Athletic this week stated Chelsea believe Jackson is one of the top three strikers in the league and on this evidence it’s hard to argue against that.
The Senegalese will likely have the night off against Heidenheim in the Conference League on Thursday before returning to the side against Aston Villa next Sunday.
