A body language expert has revealed what they believe are Mohamed Salah‘s real feelings over his contract stand-off with Liverpool.
The Egyptian’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season and he recently claimed that there are no new offers to stay on the table from the Merseyside chiefs.
The forward conducted a rare interview with Mail Sport and a small group of other reporters after scoring twice in the 3-2 victory at Southampton.
He revealed that no progress has been made on an extension, meaning he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from the start of January. It is understood, however, that Liverpool have made contact with his agent.
Now, in light of a video of Salah discussing his situation going viral, a body language expert has offered their opinion on the matter.
Speaking to OLBG, world leading body language expert Darren Stanton said: ‘Salah is sending a warning shot across the bows to Liverpool‘s upper management.
A body language expert has given their opinion on Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool
‘He does seem genuine as a man who wants to play out the rest of his career at Liverpool. At nearly 33 he wants a new deal that reflects the longevity he can still offer in the time he has left as a professional player, but if there isn’t an offer then he is going to walk.
‘That hand to mouth gesture suggests he does feel some pressure to not say too much and overplay his hand but when he touches the top of his head that is anxiety and frustration too, so if we don’t see something from Liverpool soon we could be in for some interesting times.’
As reported by Mail Sport, Liverpool turned down a lucrative £150m bid from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad in 2023. On that occasion, the Reds were unable to compete with a jaw-dropping tax-free salary of £1.25m-a-week on offer from the club.
Addressing his contract stand-off on Sunday, Salah said: ‘We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club.
‘I’m probably more out than in.
‘You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.
‘I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands.’

Stanton also offered his opinion on Salah’s trademark celebration, to which he said: ‘Drawing an arrow and shooting it — now to me, this is a power gesture but it’s also something hiding in plain sight.
‘Does he know something that nobody else knows yet? Has he been in negotiations with other opportunities?
‘By doing that gesture, it’s quite blatant in front of everyone. It is a celebration of a successful goal but I also can’t help thinking that in the next year or two years are we going to look back and be able to say that’s what that meant?
‘I think it’s going to be interesting to watch this space because for me I think he’s probably going to announce something that people aren’t expecting.’
