Manchester City are weighing up whether to make a move for out of favour Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, according to GiveMeSport.
The France international has only made two starts this season and it has been reported that he will be allowed to leave on loan during the January transfer window.
City are believed to be looking for a reasonably priced backup option for Erling Haaland, with the club having no other out-and-out striker in the first-team squad.
The Premier League champions sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid but opted not to replace him in the summer.
Muani does have other suitors
PSG signed the 25-year-old from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee totalling £76m last year, but he only scored 12 in all competitions last season.
After struggling for game time this campaign, it appears that Muani’s club are now willing to cut their losses, but City are not the only team keeping an eye on his situation.
The likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors, and it remains to be seen whether any of those clubs would be prepared to offer him guarantees about first-team minutes that City could not.
City won’t re-sign one striker in January
There have been suggestions that Pep Guardiola’s side could consider triggering their £30m buyback clause in Liam Delap’s contract when the transfer window reopens.
However, GiveMeSport claim that is very unlikely to happen. Considering the price that he is available for, that is somewhat surprising.
There is a danger that City could miss out on re-signing Delap if they don’t make their move in the New Year. Other teams, most notably Chelsea, are said to be seriously contemplating an offer for the 21-year-old.
