West Ham United beat Newcastle 2-0 on Monday night, and Julen Lopetegui will be a relieved man this morning.
Julen Lopetegui allegedly faced the sack before the Newcastle vs West Ham clash, but any talk of that has surely been put to bed for a while now.
The Hammers were absolutely brilliant to a man against the Toon at St James’ Park, and the boys were fully deserving of their victory.
The result has injected some much-needed enthusiasm back into the club, and we’re now very much looking upwards rather than behind us.
It’s a home game against Arsenal up next for West Ham, and if we play like we did against the Toon, a win will definitely be a possibility.
What Lopetegui shouted at West Ham players during Newcastle win
It was an electric performance from West Ham against Newcastle.
The players looked much fitter and sharper than they have done all season long.
And Lopetegui got his tactics absolutely bang on the money.
Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas took to his X account and shared the two words that Lopetegui continuously shouted at his players.
That’s brilliant to hear.
Lopetegui was clearly trying to be a calming influence on his players on the touchline on Monday night.
And it worked.
The Hammers put in an incredibly high octane performance, but there was an air of calm around the team as well.
That has to be the standard now – nothing less will be acceptable.
West Ham and Julen Lopetegui deserve all the credit in the world after the masterclass against Newcastle.
