West Ham United earned a brilliant win over Newcastle United on Monday night up at St James’ Park.
The 2-0 victory for West Ham over Newcastle took us to within just four points from sixth place in the Premier League table.
It was a great day all round for West Ham, with Tomas Soucek breaking records and previous Hammers target Lloyd Kelly putting in a disaster-class showing up against Michail Antonio.
Everything seems much brighter at the London Stadium now after the win over the Toon, and Julen Lopetegui will definitely be sleeping easier all of a sudden.
The West Ham fans are now welcoming the prospect of taking on Arsenal on Saturday, rather than dreading the visit of the Gunners.
If we pick up a result against our London rivals, who knows what the future may hold for us this season.
However, one very well-known radio presenter has been trying to create a specific problem for the Hammers when there simply isn’t anything of substance there.
Jarrod Bowen urged to leave West Ham after win over Newcastle
West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen is a hugely popular figure at the London Stadium.
And in my opinion, he is our best and most consistent player, and it was recently suggested that David Sullivan will not sell Jarrod Bowen at any price.
He leads by example with his hard-working performances on the pitch, and I have no doubts that he will go on to become a club legend one day.
However, well-known ‘shock-jock’ Adrian Durham explained why he believes Bowen needed to leave the London Stadium, when speaking on talkSPORT (25 November 25th, 8:50 pm).
Mind-boggling right?
Durham explained, “Jarrod Bowen, you need to leave this club mate. He’s basically an auxiliary fullback.
“He’s wasted at this club, absolutely wasted. He was linked to Liverpool in the summer and now he’s playing in a team like this.”
What an utterly bizarre take that is from Durham. I’m aware that he makes statements to shock his listeners but this one really took the biscuit didn’t it!
Jarrod Bowen a West Ham legend in the making
Bowen has bagged 64 goals and 42 assists in 216 games for the Hammers, and he has four goals and three assists to his name in 14 matches so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Now remember, last year he signed a new contract with West Ham – one that runs until the summer of 2030.
The 27-year-old clearly loves playing for the Hammers, and he certainly hasn’t taken the responsibility of being named the new club captain lightly.
Bowen has twins with long-term partner Dani Dyer, the daughter of famous West Ham United fan Danny Dyer.
It seems to me that Jarrod Bowen loves everything about West Ham, and I can see him remaining with us for the rest of his career.
Quite what game Adrian Durham was watching the other night I will never know.
Bowen was visibly delighted after the game, and I have no doubts in my mind that he was as thrilled with our performance against Newcastle as the fans were.
In two or three year’s time, I fully expect him to have established himself as a West Ham legend.
