Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha has been linked with a move to Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have placed a huge focus on recruiting some of the biggest talents around this season, welcoming the likes of Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, and Lucas Bergvall to the Hotspur Way in the summer. In addition, the club made Dominic Solanke the most expensive acquisition in their history thanks to completing a £65million switch from Bournemouth.
Solanke has done well in his short time at Spurs. The England international has had to shoulder the responsibility of leading the Tottenham attack singlehandedly, with Richarlison continuing to struggle with injury problems.
As such, Ange Postecoglou has to start thinking of managing Solanke’s workload, and with Richarlison ruled out for months with a serious hamstring injury, he may be forced to dip in the winter window for a forward.
As per reports, Tottenham have been keen on landing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha.
Having impressed during an initial loan, Matheus Cunha joined Wolves permanently in the summer of 2023 from Atletico Madrid and has gone from strength to strength since then. A brace in the 4-1 win over Fulham last weekend continued his rich vein of form, with the versatile forward registering five goals and three assists in his last six Premier League games.
Such output has seen the 25-year-old, who has a contract until 2027 at Molineux (Transfermarkt), linked with a potential move to Spurs in the coming weeks.
Ex-scout Bryan King expects Wolves to ask for at least £40million for Cunha in 2025. He thinks the Brazil international could be an ‘interesting’ addition to Postecoglou’s attacking ranks.
“Spurs should always be looking to strengthen the squad,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Players of Premier League quality, like Cuhna, will always help you to strengthen your team. Cunha is a regular first-team player at Wolves who has had a positive six months. He is relatively young, but he still has plenty of experience in European football.
“Therefore, he could be an interesting option for Tottenham. Wolves will want at least £40million for him.”
Cunha has proven himself an exciting player in the Premier League, thriving in multiple attacking positions under Gary O’Neil at Wolves. While O’Neil has ruled out a January transfer for the forward, Spurs should not get disheartened, as it is a standard practise from clubs to maintain the value of their players.
Big Ange currently has several injury problems in the offensive unit, with Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore all out of action. As a result, the 59-year-old’s squad is getting stretched in every game. In order to cover so many games across various competitions, he will want reinforcements in January.

Whether Cunha decides to leave Wolves in the 2025 transfer interval remains to be seen, but Spurs must show ambition and table a proposal for the exciting South American.
