It has been a turbulent week for Paris Saint-Germain. It began with the defeat to Bayern Munich (0-1) in the UEFA Champions League and then deteriorated when PSG drew against FC Nantes in Ligue 1 (1-1) on Saturday.
In the wake of the latter result, numerous reports emerged of unrest within the dressing room at PSG. Ousmane Dembélé’s relationship with Luis Enrique was deteriorating, as per L’Équipe, Presnel Kimpembe was increasingly frustrated about his situation, as was Randal Kolo Muani, a player almost ostracised from the first-team set-up. Even Luis Enrique’s compatriot, Fabián Ruiz was growing frustrated.
In short, an image was being painted and it was one of Luis Enrique losing his dressing room. RMC Sport understands that Luis Enrique spoke to his PSG players on Tuesday in order to alleviate the growing tensions. In his speech to the squad, he recognised that he himself had to “loosen the screw” in terms of his demands and his way of managing, but he said that it was also up to the squad to make concessions too.
It was a rapprochement and one that was well received by the PSG squad, RMC Sport understands. Luis Enrique has been in contact with the hierarchy at the reigning Ligue 1 champions, and as stated both publically and privately, the Spaniard retains the backing of the most influential figures at the club.
