Matheus Cunha’s future at Wolves is under the spotlight as transfer rumours link him with Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has dismissed speculation linking captain Matheus Cunha with a move away from Molineux, reiterating that the Brazilian forward is fully committed to the club despite interest from Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
Recent reports have suggested that Cunha, 25, could be a target for several Premier League clubs this January, particularly Arsenal. However, Pereira made it clear that the forward is not for sale, stating: “I have had a conversation with him and he is very committed to us.
“He never asked me to leave the club. He wants to help the team, be with us, to be with us and to try and win the game.”

Pereira’s defence of his captain follows criticism of Cunha’s body language during Wolves’ recent 3-1 defeat to Chelsea, in which the forward’s demeanour was called into question. While Pereira acknowledged the incident, he has since had a direct conversation with Cunha about his role as team captain, clarifying his expectations.
“He knows what I want from him as a captain. We had a conversation and everything is solid; he’s ready for the game [against Arsenal],” Pereira said.
Pereira further reinforced Wolves’ stance on Cunha’s future, adding: “He’s my player, he’s not for sale, this is information from the club. He’s committed to us and what we need from him. He’s an important player for us.”

Since taking charge at Molineux, Pereira has had a mixed run of results. His tenure began positively, with two wins and a draw, but Wolves have since lost three consecutive league games to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, conceding three goals in each match and only scoring one.
The upcoming match against Arsenal represents another stern challenge as Wolves look to regain form against a side they haven’t beaten in years.
Despite the current “storm” of results, as Pereira describes it, he remains confident in his squad’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“I like to look in the eyes of my players and their eyes are on fire for the game. This is the team I want to see against Arsenal, a team that really believe they can win the game,” he said.
For now, it appears Matheus Cunha will remain central to Wolves’ plans, as both club and manager rely on his leadership and ability to help the team navigate a difficult period.
With the January transfer window open for another week, however, speculation is unlikely to die down entirely.
