Arsenal are reportedly advancing talks with Rosenborg to sign Norwegian prodigy Sverre Nypan, an 18-year-old midfielder regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal are progressing in talks to sign 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg.
Discussions with the Norwegian club and the player’s representatives are moving forward, but no agreement has been finalised.
Nypan made his senior debut at just 15 years, 10 months and 18 days old in 2022, just shy of compatriot Martin Odegaard‘s record.
In 2023, he became Rosenborg’s youngest-ever league scorer at 16 years and 145 days.
Last season, the attacking midfielder scored eight goals and six assists, catching the attention of top European clubs.
Nypan, who can play as a creative No. 8 or No. 10, would join Arsenal’s “first-team squad immediately”, if a deal is completed, according to The Athletic.
Arsenal hope their positive relationship with Rosenborg will help finalise the deal during the Norwegian offseason.
While pursuing Nypan, Arsenal are also working to reinforce their attack as they continue to navigate the challenges of the January transfer window.
