Tottenham keen to offer Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters a route back to the club
With just a few days left in the winter transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur are starting to accelerate their transfer business to help Ange Postecoglou save the season.
Right now, Spurs are pushing to sign Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, who wants to leave the Allianz Arena as confirmed by the club’s sporting director Max Eberl on Thursday afternoon. A new forward is the need of the hour at White Hart Lane in the wake of recent injuries to Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson, with the former ruled out until mid-March.
Tel is decent on the scoring front, as evidenced by 12 goals in 60 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich, and isn’t a slouch off the ball. It is clear why Ange Postecoglou wants a new attacker, but there is a similar need for defensive reinforcements too.

Although Djed Spence has acted well as cover for Pedro Porro on the right and also operated on the left when required, Tottenham are still incredibly light at the back. Destiny Udogie, who is currently on the sidelines, doesn’t have sufficient backup with veteran Ben Davies now counted as more of a central defender than full-back by the head coach.
That being said, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham are planning to offer Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters a “route back” to White Hart Lane. With just six months left on his contract and no intention to sign an extension at the St Mary’s Stadium, Spurs are hoping to get the Englishman on a potential free transfer at the end of the season.
Kyle Walker-Peters is ready to end his five-year stay at Southampton in the summer. Having joined from Spurs back in 2020, the 27-year-old has gone on to feature 189 times for the Saints, registering seven goals and 11 assists. He has made 22 league appearances this season, although the full-back has been a part of the team with the worst defensive record in the Premier League.

The aforementioned report adds that Walker-Peters rejected a move to Galatasaray earlier this month, despite the Turkish giants showing a willingness to meet Southampton’s £8m asking price. Perhaps, he wants to stay in England and wait for an offer from his boyhood club later this year.

Tottenham have been interested in the three-cap England international for a while now, and with the player now developing into a reliable player over the years and at the peak of his powers, we must bring Walker-Peters back to the club to boost our defensive options.
