Arsenal have reignited their interest in Bruno Guimarães, but Newcastle United are standing firm.

Arsenal have reportedly once again turned their attention to Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães as they look to reinforce their midfield this summer, according to The Chronicle.
Speculation surrounding Guimarães’ future has intensified with the expected arrival of Andrea Berta as Arsenal’s new sporting director.
The Italian’s appointment has led to suggestions that the Gunners will revive their long-standing pursuit of the Newcastle midfielder.
Spanish media reports claimed that Guimarães has a £60 million release clause that could be activated if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
However, The Chronicle refutes this, stating that no such clause exists.
Any move for the midfielder would require Arsenal to negotiate directly with Newcastle, who remain in a strong financial position following their Saudi-backed takeover in 2021. Guimarães is currently valued at €80m and has three years remaining on his current contract.

Atlético Madrid, under Berta’s guidance, closely monitored the Brazilian during his time at Lyon, only to be beaten to his signature by Newcastle in January 2022.
This seems to be the root of the renewed links with Arsenal with Berta’s appointment expected at the club before the end of the month. That being said, Arsenal were also heavily linked with the midfielder before he landed at Newcastle.

Guimarães has given no indication that he is seeking a departure from Tyneside. Like most players linked with an exit, his immediate priority is success with his current club and in securing a return to European football.
With Thomas Partey and Jorginho approaching the final months of their contracts, Arsenal are expected to prioritise multiple midfield signings this summer.
Whether Guimarães becomes a realistic target will depend on Newcastle’s willingness to sell – and whether Arsenal are prepared to meet what would undoubtedly be a hefty valuation with so many other positions to address.
