West Ham United could be about to be shown up by Chelsea in the transfer market.
West Ham and Chelsea are both expected to be very busy indeed in the summer transfer window.
Graham Potter and Enzo Maresca need to bolster their ranks considerably at the London Stadium and Stamford Bridge respectively.
The 49-year-old Hammers head coach has to sell numerous players this summer in order to raise funds, with six West Ham players up for sale.
The squad at the London Stadium is not good enough. It’s incredibly unbalanced and the average age needs to be brought down urgently.
Whilst Chelsea might not be in such urgent need of new signings, Maresca definitely needs new additions.
And now the Blues could be set to sign a player who should be at West Ham now.
West Ham mistake laid bare as Chelsea eye Antonio Semenyo swoop
The Hammers have made a fair few big mistakes in the transfer market over the past few years.
Top young talents have often been overlooked in favour of more experienced signings.
And West Ham’s failure to sign Antonio Semenyo from Bristol City three years ago could now cost us dearly.
West Ham were heavily linked with Antoine Semenyo back in 2022, but passed up on the chance to sign him in the end.
And now, according to a report from Area Napoli, Chelsea are lining up a move to sign the 25-year-old Bournemouth forward for a bargain £42 million fee.

I have no doubts that Semenyo will go right to the very top, and if we were a better run club, he would be at the London Stadium now.
Antoine Semenyo stats
The Bournemouth forward has blistering pace and is a really hard-working forward. He has been described as ‘absolutely rapid’.
Meanwhile, former Robins boss Nigel Pearson suggested that he is a ‘nightmare to play against’ (Sky Sports).
Semenyo has been in superb form for the Cherries this season, with nine goals and five assists to his name in 31 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
He is an elite Premier League player.
And now Chelsea could be about to show West Ham up by signing Antoine Semenyo in the summer.
The club has to start operating a lot smarter going forward.
