Daniel Cummings, a young striker that West Ham tried to sign in the January transfer window is eligible to sign a pre-contract with any club, as his current contract with Celtic is set to expire in the summer.
The eighteen year old has been in excellent form for the Celtic B team, scoring 23 goals in 22 Lowland league games and 6 goals in 7 UEFA youth champions league games.
The player is a boy hood Celtic fan, and will want assurances that he will feature in and around the West Ham first team squad for the forthcoming season. He will face competition from Northern Ireland international, Callum Marshall, two years his senior, who has found his goal scoring boots at Huddersfield with nine goals and three assists.
Cummings will also be all too aware that the Hammers previously pursued FC Lorient striker, Eli Junior Kroupi who ultimately joined Bournemouth.
With Danny Ings set to depart on a free transfer, Evan Ferguson to return to Brighton, and Michail Antonio’s future uncertain, West Ham currently only have Niclas Fullkrug available and he has expressed a desire to move on.
Hopefully, Mark Noble will secure this deal for a player with immense potential.
