Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in a prolific striker in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their attack after a forgetful season. Spurs are 15th in the Premier League and are out of all domestic competitions. However, the North London club is still in contention to win the Europa League after reaching the quarter-finals last week.
But it has not been an easy season for manager Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has not had a fully fit squad since the start of the season and key players have been injured for some time now. Ange has had to deal with the inconsistencies of many available attackers, which has led to his side being in the bottom half of the league in March.
The Lilywhites brought in Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for a record fee last summer, but the 27-year-old has had a stop-start first season at the club. The prolific striker had a memorable campaign with the Cherries last season and was considered one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League. This made Spurs fans quite hopeful that the England international would have the same impact on them this season. But it just hasn’t worked out yet for the Tottenham No.19.
Matheus Cunha has been linked to Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking depth is quite questionable. The North London club do not have a reliable second striker in their ranks and Ange Postecoglou has had to deploy youngsters Wilson Odobert and Dane Scarlett as their No.9. Club captain Heung-min Son has also failed to step up this season and has been criticised for his performances this season.
Now Tottenham have stepped up their efforts to bring a reliable attacker for next season. According to GIVEMESPORT, Matheus Cunha is more than likely to leave Wolves in the summer and Spurs are one of many clubs that are in the running for the 25-year-old. The Brazil international is said to have a release clause of £62.5million which will be active in the summer.

GMS also reports that Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all interested in the talented striker. This means that Tottenham will have to act quickly if they want to have any chance of signing the Wolves star in the summer and provide competition to Dominic Solanke.
Will Cunha be a good fit at N17?
As per Sofascore, Matheus Cunha has played 29 games in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists. This is quite an impressive stat for a player whose club is fighting for relegation. In comparison, Dominic Solanke has just managed to score 11 goals in 33 games for Spurs this season in all competitions. There is no doubt that Cunha will enhance the quality of the attack for Spurs.
He will also be a perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system. The Wolves star is equally good with both feet, has the ability to dribble through tight spaces and is an efficient finisher.
Ange Postecoglou tends to make his striker drop deep between the midfield and the defence of the opposition, to create space for the wingers and the attacking midfielder. This is something which suits Cunha’s playstyle a lot as he is very capable of playing as a False 9.
