Franck Ribéry is part of Bayern Munich’s most successful period, doing the damage alongside Arjen Robben. Any Bayern fan (any football fan, really) out there knows who “Robbery” is. Speaking after the Franz Beckenbauer Cup, which Bayern won 4-0 over Real Madrid, the 40-year-old spoke highly of his compatriot Michael Olise.
“He’s a very good player,” Ribéry remarked (Sky Sport’s Kerry Hau via @iMiaSanMia). “It’s not easy when you come to such a big club as a young player and you don’t speak the language. He’s doing very well. I’m happy.”
Calling a player the next coming of a legendary former player is sometimes frowned upon, but when asked if Olise is his “future version”, Ribéry simply said “I hope so.” This is Franck-ly (pun intended) a huge pair of boots to fill but Michael has so far proved that he’s one of the difference-makers at Bayern.
