West Ham United are desperate to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer this summer.
Jonathan David has been firmly on the West Ham radar for quite some time now.
West Ham boss Graham Potter badly needs to add someone like Jonathan David to his ranks in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old is a huge talent. He possesses blistering pace, incredible movement and is a very accomplished finisher.
David has 23 goals and 10 assists to his name in 41 games for Lille so far this season (Transfermarkt).
That said, Edson Alvarez had David in his back pocket during the Canada vs Mexico clash on Friday!
Whilst the Canada international had a quiet night against Alvarez, he has proven consistently that he is one of the game’s most elite strikers.
A worrying update emerged regarding the Hammers’ interest in signing the Lille centre-forward on Saturday night.
NINE other clubs are keen to acquire David’s signature, including the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona.
That surely means the end of our hopes of signing him.
Numerous West Ham fans took to social media in response to the latest update on Jonathan David’s future.
One Hammers fan said, “I’m no mind reader I don’t have a crystal ball But I’m guessing when he goes to one of the 8 the message from the club will be We Tried.“
A second West Ham supporter said, “There’s more chance of me discovering the secret behind the ancient art of alchemy. We will never be able to compete with the big clubs in the transfer market until we get owners who put football ahead of profits.“
A third suggested that we all need to move on now, “He ain’t coming to West Ham. Give that topic a miss.“
Whilst a fourth Hammers fan posted a very sarcastic response, “He’s in the bag baby.“

A fifth took to social media and said, “Not happening then.“
Meanwhile, a sixth West Ham supporter simply said, “Won’t be coming to us then!!!“
A seventh supporter took to social media platform X and jokingly commented, “Surely picks us then over those tinpot clubs.“
Whilst an eighth Hammers fan said, “Good luck with that then!“
West Ham board to blame for Jonathan David woes
I have to concur with those message from the Hammers fans.
If the West Ham board had genuine ambition, they would have paid a fee to sign Jonathan David in January.
It will be too difficult to bring him to the London Stadium now.
And that’s a huge shame, considering how much of a transformational signing he would have been for the Hammers.
