Fair to say Jesse Lingard never rediscovered the high points he hit at London Stadium: For that brief loan spell West Ham loved him and- erm – he loved him too. That nine goals and four assists in 16 games fired West Ham towards European football and the rest, shall we say, is history.
‘JesseL’ decided to flirt with David Moyes and then sign for Nottingham Forest – taking millions but torching his career in the process and now playing for FC Seoul in South Korea.
Reported today in givemesport.com the former Hammers’ favourite has confessed to planning his future after football and it seems he is heading in a somewhat bizarre direction. Planning to stay in Korea to play for another four years, Lingard plans to eschew football for life on stage:
“life after football could take a unique turn. “I’ve always thought of acting,” he revealed. “I tell any footballer not to just rely on the football. If there’s investment there to be made that is safe, and you’ve got good people around to do it, then do it. If you want to do real estate, then do it. Don’t be afraid.
If nothing else, JL shows he has what it takes to be a budding mime artist.
“I don’t know if I would need acting lessons but maybe help with remembering lines and stuff like that. I think I need to start now to be honest. I’m trying to do something over here to get onto like a show already, or something. A cameo appearance.”
Not sure if he’s quite in the Vinnie Jones category as a likely hard man for gangster and crime movies, but at least it seems Jesse Lingard has no regrets about the past and big plans away from the pitch. Maybe opposite Danny Dyer in Eastenders one day?
