Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to fend off competition for Chris Rigg
Tottenham Hotspur have made some very impressive signings since last summer. The North London club have been targeting young talents with huge potential, instead of going to star players who are already in the twilight of their peak and are on a downward slope.
It is not needed to state how badly the Spurs fans want Daniel Levy out of the club, but they will have to give the Englishman credit where its due. Levy perfectly nailed last summer’s transfer window by signing young talents who could be developed at the club and would also be potential world-class players.
The arrivals of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Wilson Odobert and Dominic Solanke have certainly elevated the quality of the squad. Ange Postecoglou has utilised each one of them effectively this season and it can be argued that all four of them have been impactful this season. Archie Gray and Bergvall have quickly become fan favourites and have stepped up in different positions for the team due to the injury crisis at the club.
The Lilywhites will be hoping to continue this transfer strategy in the future and hopefully, it can lead to Spurs’ first major silverware since 2008. Ange Postecoglou will also hope he can have young players play for his team as they would be willing to fight for the badge and give their all to the team.
Another youngster to get signed in the summer?
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to strengthen their attacking midfield position in the summer to challenge for titles next year. The Lilywhites are the second-highest goalscorers in the Premier League this season, but that is not stopping them from making additions to bolster their attack even more.
According to Fichajes, Spurs are aiming to sign Sunderland sensation Chris Rigg in the summer for £40million. The North London club are said to be determined to buy the player and are willing to go out to great lengths to get the 17-year-old’s signature. This comes after it was reported by Sunderland Echo that Sunderland value Rigg at £20 million.

Spurs’ willingness to offer double the amount Sunderland are asking for shows how highly the North London club value the youngster. It is also reported by the Sunderland Echo that West Ham United are also looking to sign Chris Rigg but are only willing to offer a deal of around £10 million.
Will Chris Rigg be a good signing?
Sunderland star Chris Rigg has been making waves in England through his brilliant performances. He also became the youngest scorer in Sunderland’s history after scoring in the Carabao Cup as a 16-year-old. As per Sofascore, Rigg has played 34 games in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. The Sunderland No.11 has also provided 37 key passes and created four big chances for Regis Le Bris’ side.
He will be a perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou’s side as well. The England U-19 international will be a good backup for James Maddison and will provide a different dynamic to the team. Rigg plays as a roaming playmaker for the Black Cats and has an eye for a good pass to create a chance.
The 17-year-old tends to receive the ball in the final third and prefers to have a go at the defenders. His strongest attribute is his ability to link up with other players and play quick passes while making a darting second-man run into the box.
