Jorginho’s agent has confirmed that he’ll hold contract talks with Arsenal next month, among other clubs, denying that the player was in Rio to join Flamengo this week.
Growing speculation linking Jorginho with a move to Flamengo went into overdrive last week, as the midfielder was spotted arriving in Rio de Janeiro.
Jorginho insisted he was only there for a vacation, and his agent has since confirmed as much to Daily Arsenal.
Joao Santos explains that he plans to hold contract talks with various teams next month, including in Brazil, but that’s in addition to planned contract talks with the player’s current club Arsenal.

“Jorginho has returned to London,” Santos began by confirming. “From April 15, I will begin talks with clubs in England, including Arsenal, as well as teams from Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil.”
It certainly sounds as though a final decision hasn’t yet been made. It’s perhaps a bit too much of a coincidence that Jorginho opted to holiday in the city of a club targeting his signature, but he evidently didn’t make the trip to sign a contract.
As it stands, Jorginho will be out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, at which point he can sign for a new club on a free transfer.

Jorginho has made 24 appearances for Arsenal this season, including 14 starts from the Gunners’ 45 available fixtures. The Italian international hasn’t missed a single squad through injury or suspension, he’s just not part of Mikel Arteta’s first-choice midfield at this stage.
It remains to be seen whether the Arsenal boss can convince the 33-year-old to stick around as a squad player beyond this season, with talks set to take place soon.
