- Sporting power couple find new way to stay close
- Could be due for a reunion Down Under next month
It’s not easy to keep a relationship going when you’re separated from your partner by more than 16,000km, but Mary Fowler and Nathan Cleary have found a way to do just that – and fashion is the key.
The Manchester City star treated her Instagram followers to a post showing her dressed in a black and white leather jacket and midriff top in a stylistic departure for the 22-year-old, with another post featuring her wearing a pair of crimson Adidas sneakers.
She captioned them ‘Today’s fit styled by @_nathancleary’ with a love-heart emoji.
The couple last met in person late last month when the Penrith star made a mad dash to meet her in San Diego, California, while his team were preparing for their first match of the season in Las Vegas.
Fowler was in town with the national team for their SheBelieves Cup clash with Colombia, which the South Americans won 2-1 to leave the Aussies in last place in the tournament.
Now the couple could be reunited in Sydney in the very near future as their busy schedules dovetail once again.

The Matildas are scheduled to play South Korea at Allianz Stadium on April 4, with Fowler named in the national squad for the match.
The Tillies will face their opponents once again on April 7 at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.
Cleary and his Panthers will play the North Queensland Cowboys at CommBank Stadium in Sydney’s west on April 4, with the superstar halfback all but assured of taking his place in the side after being forced to miss this Thursday’s clash with South Sydney.
He’s being held out of that match after being concussed in a spectacular mid-air collision with his opposite number Jahrome Hughes in Penrith’s nail-biting loss to the Melbourne Storm last Thursday night.
Under NRL rules, he has to be sidelined for 11 days after failing his head injury assessment.
Fowler will have to return to the UK in short order so she’s ready for Manchester City’s FA Cup semifinal against Manchester United on April 14, followed by their Women’s Super League match against Everton on April 20.
The talented forward has been in scintillating form recently, chalking up six goals and six assists over 15 WSL matches.

She has also impressed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and last week provided an assist for striker Vivianne Miedema, who finished with a brace in the Citizens’ shock 2-0 win over the Blues in the quarter-final, first leg.
Her run of great displays has led to worried Chelsea supporters demanding the return of her Matildas teammate Sam Kerr as the second leg looms at Stamford Bridge on March 28.
Before the defeat in the first leg, the Blues were unbeaten in the league after 16 games and recently won the League Cup final against City.
But Champions League glory is what fans crave the most.
‘Play Sam Kerr in the return leg otherwise it will be useless to have her in FA Cup or WSL. This UWCL is what Chelsea live to play and win,’ said one.
‘Sam Kerr miraculous comeback for a heroic second leg at the Bridge is the cinema I need,’ another posted.
