There seems no shortage of admirers out there should West Ham bite the bullet this summer and decide to add their teenage Brazilian speedster to their ‘sell-list’. It is well known that the Hammers have to sell to buy in the coming window, and the ‘conundrum’ that is Luis Guilherme could yet leave the club as potential suitors circle.
West Ham do seem unable to make their mind up over what to do with Steidten’s pearl who cost a fortune but cannot get a game.
Yesterdays’ report in Spanish outlet fichajes.com claimed that Guilherme has caught the eye of Athletico Madrid – however, with one major stumbling block:
“West Ham United seems determined to transfer Luis Guilherme, a [young man] who has not managed to acclimatize to the Premier League. Atlético de Madrid is one of the teams interested in recruiting him, although it is not willing to pay the €30 million that the Hammers could demand.”
Thirty million euros? Thats – yes, the same amount that West Ham paid for Guilherme’s services (£25 mill in English money) in Steidten’s crazy – priced deal of June 2024.
Guilherme – seems West Ham still don’t know what to do with him
From memory, a recent caughtoffside article claimed Guilherme was interesting “Wolverhampton, Crystal Palace, Flamengo, Naples, Atletico de Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk”….
Even so, a tad optimistic from the club, hoping (if true) to recoup every cent of a deal from an overpriced, unused, now much criticised ‘punt’ of a purchase.
Even with no Crysencio Summerville for the rest of the season, Guilherme can’t seem to get game time. If the Hammers are rock-solid set on recouping the price paid last year, Guilherme needn’t rush to hunt out his passport: However, If Potter decides not to use his Brazilian teenager as cover for Summerville between now and May (C and H yesterday), I’d say that €30 m asking price will drop like a stone and West Ham will take whatever they can get for Guilherme to bring the whole sorry saga to a close.
