Manchester City star Jack Grealish backed to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou continues his rebuilding job at N17.
Spurs have been abysmal this season. They are languishing 15th in the Premier League table and eliminated from both domestic cup competitions, leaving Ange Postecoglou under pressure at the club. Daniel Levy has to show some ambition and make some high-profile acquisitions this summer rather than continuing the transfer strategy of investing in young talents.
The North Londoners have been linked with some high-profile, experienced stars ahead of the summer transfer window. Indeed, Manchester City star Jack Grealish has been on Spurs’ radar.
Jack Grealish was bought by Manchester City in the summer of 2021 for a record £100million from Aston Villa. The English winger has enjoyed great success at the Etihad Stadium, playing a crucial role in the club’s Treble-winning campaign two years ago. However, he has failed to stay fit and perform consistently this season, managing a solitary assist in 16 Premier League appearances thus far.
The 29-year-old has been left out in the cold by Pep Guardiola, costing him a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the recent 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has been discussing Grealish and his struggles at Man City this season on the TalkSPORT show. Having fallen down the pecking order at City, he has tipped the England international to leave the Etihad Stadium and join Tottenham.
“I think Pep Guardiola’s one of the best coaches we’ve ever seen. I don’t think he’s handled the Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne situation very well this year, at all. I think he’s kind of just left them in the cold,” Troy Deeney said on TalkSPORT.
“He will have to leave and I think he won’t be short of suitors. But I think now it’s a massive situation for him to find that right situation. He may have to lower his expectations in terms of wages and where he’s playing, but you could definitely see him going somewhere like Spurs, playing week in week out.”
It is fair to say Grealish’s stock has dipped during the last 18 months, and he now finds himself behind the likes of Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush in the attacking pecking order at City. After four glittering years with the Cityzens, the time is perhaps right for the Birmingham-born ace to seek a new challenge.
Tottenham missed out on Grealish’s signing back in 2018 when he was plying his trade for boyhood club Aston Villa. After seven long years, the Lilywhites are understood to be interested in the creative winger’s services.

If he can stay fit, the 29-year-old would be a sensational signing for Ange Postecoglou’s side—one that would mean real business from Daniel Levy. However, for any move to materialise, Grealish will have to take a significant wage cut as he is one of the highest-paid players in the City squad.
