Man City are eyeing up a move for Josko Gvardiol as a potential replacement for Aymeric Laporte should he leave… but RB Leipzig want over £85m if they are to sell the Croatian defender this summer
Josko Gvardiol is on Manchester City’s list of targets should Pep Guardiola look to reshape his defence ahead of next season.
City could seal the Premier League title this weekend, the first of potentially three trophies as they aim to make history.
They do, however, have question marks over a number of players – including captain Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Aymeric Laporte.
Mail Sport revealed last month that City will not stand in Laporte’s way if he seeks a move elsewhere this summer.
RB Leipzig’s Gvardiol, regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe, is of interest to City if they need to strengthen in that area.

Gvardiol, who can operate at centre half and left back, would solve some problems for Guardiola but the German club are setting an asking price of more than £85million if they are to sanction the Croatia international’s departure.
There have been reports in Germany that Leipzig may have to sell star names this summer in order to raise finance, although the sporting director Max Eberl denied they are struggling to comply with Financial Fair Play.
Chelsea have also scouted Gvardiol, whose performances at the World Cup only enhanced an already burgeoning reputation.
Meanwhile, City chief executive Ferran Soriano has pointed towards the spending of other Premier League clubs as their critics downplay the club’s achievements.
‘You only have to look at the investment in players in England in the last year, three years, five years,’ Soriano said. ‘We are never the club spending the most on players. There are many other clubs investing more money than us – Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal. Saying that we’ve spent a lot of money and we won because of that is just not true.’
