Diogo Dalot contract negotiations are almost done, with the deal now in the ‘final stages’.
Just yesterday, we covered a story on Diogo Dalot’s future, with the Portugal international in talks about signing a new Red Devils contract.
Well, we’ve now been given another update. Once again, it comes from Fabrizio Romano. Yesterday afternoon, he took to Twitter to share his latest information.
Apparently, contract negotiations for the 24-year-old are moving to the ‘final stages’, with the right-back set to sign a new long-term deal.
It’s now just a matter of ironing out the ‘final details’, before the ex-Porto man will put pen to paper on fresh terms here at Old Trafford.
The defender has always given off the impression that he’d prefer to stay in Manchester, despite pretty heavy interest in him from elsewhere.
Check out Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on the news here:
A new multi-year contract will quickly ward off any potential suitors for Dalot, who has been a real asset for Ten Hag this term.
Not only has the man from Portugal been the first-choice right-back for large portions of the season, he’s also filled in at left-back when required – and done a stellar job out there, too.
A year or so ago, I genuinely thought that Dalot’s time at United was drawing to a close. However, he’s quickly proving me wrong. We’re now starting to see his talent in full flow.
This new contract certainly makes sense, as Dalot fits in line with the way Ten Hag likes to play. You always get the impression that if a right-back is sold, it’d be Wan-Bissaka first. The Englishman would also likely command a higher fee, too.
