Man United will not have it easy if they want to sign Harry Kane this summer.
Manchester United absolutely have to sign a world-class striker this summer. There’s no getting away from that.
It feels like common knowledge that Harry Kane is the signing that Erik ten Hag really desires, though acquiring players from Tottenham Hotspur is far easier said than done.
The latest story from The Mirror isn’t all that encouraging for United fans, either…
Apparently, Spurs are ‘determined to resist’ Man United interest in the prolific striker, with the Red Devils trying to secure a deal this summer.
Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, is ‘adamant’ that they will not sell Kane to a Premier League rival. They’re even ready to run the risk of losing him for nothing in twelve months’ time.
United boss Ten Hag has made Kane a ‘top striker target’ during this window, as he looks to find that reliable goal source ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Sadly, for United, The Mirror claim that it seems ‘highly likely’ that Kane will stay at Spurs for one more season at least. The fact that the Englishman knows he’ll have his pick of clubs in one year is also a nice position to be in.
Kane will turn 30 this summer. Nobody can deny his goalscoring genius and all-round play. He’s simply a phenomenal footballer. However, his mentality is starting to come into question.
Spurs, as a club, have a loser’s mentality. With each passing season that Kane remains at White Hart Lane, his reputation as being content with mediocrity is continually growing. Surely there comes a time in his career when he wants to win trophies?
I understand the desire to break the Premier League record, but he could do that at Old Trafford, playing for a club that could end their first season under a new manager with two trophies?
