Man United are looking to cash in on Anthony Elanga this summer, with a cut-price deal now available.
The squad overhaul at Manchester United is set to continue this summer, as the Red Devils continue to look different under Erik ten Hag.
The gaffer has bright ideas, though it’ll rely on major changes in that dressing room – both in terms of incoming and outgoing players.
United simply have to spend what money is available to them, while also selling some fringe players in order to generate extra funds. One player who seemingly falls into that bracket is Anthony Elanga.
It’s the Manchester Evening News with the report, who claim that United have lowered the asking price for the 21-year-old down to £10m; which is half of what the club were previously asking for.
United had initially intended to listen to loan offers for the Swede, though now a straight sell is looking more likely due to his peripheral squad status under Ten Hag.
Elanga has started just once this year, falling out of favour, after becoming a fairly regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The addition of Antony coupled with the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho has all-but-ended Elanga’s chances at United. You’d imagine Amad and Facundo Pellistri have also lept over the Swede in the pecking order.
No doubt a year ago, the fee would have been much higher for Elanga, though if United can generate £10m from his sale, while also getting his wages off the books, that has to be viewed as a decent return.
It’s somewhat sad to see that Elanga is looking likely to leave, but Ten Hag is in win-now mode. He cannot wait for youth to develop, rather, it’s up to those players to take their chances. Sadly, Elanga hasn’t really taken his. Hence, he’s about to be sold.
