Man United seem to be the frontrunners to sign young striker, Rasmus Hojlund.
Among Manchester United’s needs during this crucial summer transfer window is a top-tier striker. Wout Weghorst hasn’t scored any league goals since January. He has started the majority of our matches over that time…
Harry Kane is the absolute dream addition. That much is obvious. However, convincing Tottenham Hotspur to sell will not be easy.
Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund has emerged as a potential back-up target for the Old Trafford club, after the Dane enjoyed an excellent season in the Serie A.
It’s TuttoMercatoWeb with a fresh update on Hojlund, with thanks to Sport Witness for relaying the information.
Apparently, United are in the ‘front row’ for the 20-year-old’s signature, though they’ll face competition from Napoli.
It’s stated that in the last ‘few hours’, contacts between United and Atalanta have ‘intensified’. This could mean that United have now given up on any potential move for Kane, not wanting to waste time and moving harder for Hojlund instead.
Hojlund’s current deal runs until 2027, meaning Atalanta are under no pressure to sell unless the right offer comes in. It’s believed that it’ll take an offer of at least £42m (€50m) to even sit down at the table with the Serie A club to discuss any potential move.
For a man who only cost £15m from Sturm Graz a year ago, Atalanta are set to make a healthy profit on Hojlund.
This is a move with longevity in mind for United. Hojlund may need time to settle into the Premier League, though there can be no doubt that this young man is supremely talented. He’d be a stunning acquisition, assuming the Dane can fulfil his insane potential.
