Roy Keane believes Man United have two players who can ‘hurt’ Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Well, here we are, the eve of the FA Cup final. Manchester United meet Manchester City under the Wembley arches, with a chance at a second trophy of the season for the Red Devils.
We all know, the game itself is going to be immensely difficult. City are the best side in Europe right now, making it tough for the Old Trafford club in recent meetings. We should expect no different here.
The Red Devils are the heavy underdogs, which is rare ground for Erik ten Hag’s side this season. Perhaps they’ll thrive under that pressure. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Although not favoured, one pundit, in the form of Roy Keane, has named two United players who can ‘hurt’ City in the FA Cup final, albeit he feels United will have a tough afternoon.
Keano believes Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford could do damage. They’re undeniably United’s best source for goals going into this contest.
“I am worried for Manchester United – Manchester City have dominated them for the past few years, but United have players like Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford who can hurt City.” Keane said on FA Cup Special Overlap.
“Wembley, the atmosphere and the fact that United have been written off – it’s dangerous.”
Rashford is by far and away United’s top scorer, while Bruno is comfortably United’s best creator. The pair work supremely well together and if they’re on form, getting chances with the ball at feet, they can hurt any back line in the world.
City, albeit stifling when out of possession, does leave you gaps in behind if you can play through them. Sure, that’s easier said than done, but if Bruno can find that inch-perfect ball, utilising Rashford’s immense pace, we could have some joy.
United will relinquish the lion’s share of possession and look to play on the break. They’ll also have to keep it tight at the back first and foremost. Hopefully, the lads can start well, grow in confidence and make a real positive impression in a huge derby game.
