Donny van de Beek could leave Man United this summer, due to a lack of playing time.
Manchester United Football Club are evolving under Erik ten Hag, with the Red Devils in a pretty good place right now.
There’s still work ahead for the gaffer, with this summer massively important when it comes to closing the gap on Manchester City.
While players will be bought in order to strengthen the dressing room, others will be sold alongside. One man whose future has remained up in the air for a little while now is Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman’s season was cruelly cut short by injury, though it’s fair to say it has never really worked for him here in Manchester.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update on his future. According to the journalist, Van de Beek will ‘explore’ his ‘options’ in the next weeks. The 26-year-old ‘could leave Man United’, Romano claims.
Despite a ‘love’ for the club and Ten Hag, the player wants regular football. The good news is that he’ll be ready for pre-season following his lengthy injury.
Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out in some situations. That doesn’t mean Van de Beek was a bad player. Rather, it just hasn’t clicked for the Dutchman in Manchester.
A lack of consistency in playing time, being utilised in a variety of roles and injuries have all contributed to Van de Beek having a rough time of it at Salford Quays.
No doubt the ability and skill is still there, while Van de Beek still has plenty of years left in him. A move now feels like the best situation for all involved. United could get a decent fee, Van de Beek will go to a new home, with the eventual buying club getting a cracking footballer.
