Anthony Elanga has been told he can leave Man United this summer.
Manchester United need to spend big this summer, as the Red Devils look to continue their squad overhaul. Alongside incoming players, the club simply have to let some players leave.
Several have been on the first-team periphery at Old Trafford this term, including Anthony Elanga.
The talented Swede was a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho, coupled with the signing of Antony, has meant that the academy winger has seen his minutes drastically reduced.
Now, reliable journalist, Florian Plettenberg, has shared his latest information on Elanga’s future.
Apparently, the 21-year-old winger ‘can leave’ the club in the summer, while talks are already taking place.
RB Leipzig have asked about the winger, though it’s not at an advanced stage. It’s stated that ‘many clubs’ have inquired about him, too.
United hope to fetch around £13-17m for the sale of Elanga, which is a decent fee that would top up the summer budget available to Ten Hag.
Perhaps with more time, Elanga could turn into a high-level winger, though he needs regular minutes to achieve that goal. A move to Leipzig sounds ideal. A club of that ilk could work wonders for his career.
For United, the ideal scenario is that a bidding war will ensue, as this is a pretty cheap fee for a player of Elanga’s calibre.
I’d also hope that if at all possible, some sort of buyback clause can be inserted into the contract, just in case the Swede does turn out to be that elite-level player.
For now, though, it makes sense for United to put their trust in Facundo Pellistri and Amad instead.
