Erik ten Hag wants to keep Victor Lindelof at Man United beyond the summer and the defender will not be sold.
The summer window is yet to officially open, though Manchester United have already been linked with what feels like every name under the sun.
No doubt the rumours will continue, with Erik ten Hag looking to further strengthen the playing squad.
Before that, it’s about working out who Ten Hag wants to keep at the club – while also identifying those who will be sold.
Not too long ago, Victor Lindelof was deemed surplus to requirements. The Ice Man had fallen out of favour following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez. However, the Swede has since played his way into contention.
The former Benfica man finished the season strongly, impressing the United fans and coaching staff in equal measure.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Lindelof’s future. According to Romano, the 28-year-old defender is now deemed ‘untouchable’ by Ten Hag.
It’s claimed there is now ‘no chance’ of a sale, despite the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan all showing interest in the centre-back since January.
This is a credit to Lindelof. It would have been easy for him to throw in the towel, particularly when the going got tough when he was partnering Harry Maguire.
Without the Englishman alongside him, Lindelof has looked drastically better. Perhaps some of that is down to the new coaching staff, who are having a positive effect on many players.
That said, this is absolutely the correct decision. There aren’t many better third or fourth choice options in world football than Lindelof. He absolutely deserves all the praise that’s coming his way.
