Spurs have eyes on struggling Man United winger, Jadon Sancho.
Under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United are moving in the right direction. That said, these things take time.
The gaffer has made some positive improvements to the squad, though there’s still plenty of deadwood that Ten Hag really has no use for.
One man who falls into the talented-but-underperforming bracket is Jadon Sancho. We’ve seen glimpses of what the Englishman can offer, though nowhere consistent enough to go close to justifying the £70m+ United paid to sign him.
Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford have all had a far more significant influence on proceedings. As a result, Sancho’s United future is up in the air.
According to the Daily Star, the Englishman could be offered a way out by fellow Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the report, they’re ‘considering’ a swoop to sign the 23-year-old United star in a £50m deal.
The Daily Star explain that Sancho has struggled for fitness and form, while noting that during the campaign, Ten Hag sent the Englishman away to rest up and recuperate – both physically and mentally.
Now, Spurs are showing an interest in bringing in the Englishman under Ange Postecoglu, who has a great track record working with younger players.
It’s stated that United are going to want closer to £60m in order to do business.
However, the Reds’ hands are tied somewhat, with Ten Hag having to raise cash in order to supplement his transfer budget during this window.
All I’m seeing here is a perfect opportunity to offload a mid-level performer in the squad, for a really good transfer fee. Sancho is talented but it hasn’t quite worked out for him here. Let him go now and bring in someone else, or even give the minutes to the likes of Amad and Facundo Pellistri, who really cannot do any worse.
It could also be used as an opportunity to work out some sort of swap deal involving Harry Kane.
