Pep Guardiola’s ‘idol’ Julia Roberts congratulates him on Champions League glory… after Man City boss previously joked about his ‘disappointment’ that she went to visit rivals United
- Manchester City completed the Treble by winning the Champions League
- Hollywood star Julia Roberts took to Instagram to congratulate Pep Guardiola
- The Spaniard previously revealed that Roberts is one of his biggest ‘idols’
There was more good news for Pep Guardiola after his ‘idol’ Julia Roberts congratulated the Man City boss following their Champions League triumph.
City lifted the European trophy after Rodri’s goal sealed a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan on Saturday night.
And now Roberts has congratulated the blue side of Manchester for their victory after Guardiola previously revealed she was one of his idols.
Taking to Instagram she posted: ‘Congratulations @pepteam for leading your team to be UCL champions’.
It comes after Guardiola previously admitted his disappointment that his ‘idol’ visited Manchester United over his side in the past.

Pep Guardiola led his side to a famous treble this season, but previously joked he has ‘failed’
Guardiola’s ‘idol’ is Julia Roberts and he said he was disappointed when she visited Man United
Roberts took to Instagram to congratulate Manchester City and Guardiola
Speaking after City’s 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig back in March, the Spaniard bizarrely insisted that he will always be a failure due to Roberts.
‘I am a failure in the Champions League,’ Guardiola said. ‘If win the Champions League three times in a row I will be a failure.
‘I have three idols in my life. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Julia Roberts. These are my three idols.
‘Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex (Ferguson) was winning titles and titles and titles. She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right?’
The now-treble winner continued to reveal that he would remain disappointed even if he lifted the Champions League this season, which his side went on to do.
‘Even if I win the Champions League it will not compare to this disappointment I had,’ he reiterated.
But now, Roberts has congratulated her biggest fan on his achievement with Man City, which may just soften the blow for Guardiola.
