It’s amazing how quickly the good vibes have dissipated around the Germany men’s national team. Helmed by ex-Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, the Germans headed into the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup brimming with confidence and were a little hard done by to miss out on qualification to the knockouts — but nevertheless the disappointment of the result has lingered.
Now Germany are a national powerhouse that have been wandering the wilderness for years. And if they were hoping to show themselves as one of the early favorites for the 2024 European Championships, this wasn’t the way to do it. The upcoming EURO hosts had a scare against Ukraine, and the Bild ratings were unsparing:
