Eric Bailly is attracting interest from Real Betis this summer.
Changes are afoot at Manchester United; both on and off the field.
Club ownership remains up in the air, while Erik ten Hag is doing his utmost to overhaul the dressing room into one that better fits his style of play.
As a result, there were several players who were frozen out last term, while others left on loan. Eric Bailly is one of those guys who played their football elsewhere in 2022/23.
The forgotten United man is now attracting transfer interest this summer, with Real Betis showing some intent on signing the Ivorian. That’s according to Mundo Deportivo (in Spanish).
Bailly spent last season on loan at Marseille, though MD state the Ligue 1 club will not make that deal permanent.
Now, Ramon Planes, new Sporting Director of Real Betis, ‘closely follows’ Bailly’s developments. He has done since his time at Espanyol where the defender was a youth product.
After moving to United, inconsistencies, largely on the injury front, have plagued Bailly’s time in Manchester. The talent is obviously there, though he’s spent far too long out on the treatment table.
At this stage, a permanent transfer away for Bailly feels like it’d be in the best interests of everyone. Perhaps he needs that change of scenery in order to restore his confidence levels.
United will grab Betis’ hands off if a sizable offer comes in, as it’d allow the Red Devils to clear some wages off the bill, while providing Ten Hag with an extra little chunk of money in the transfer kitty.
It’s too early to say whether this interest is genuine and whether a transfer will materialise. Though we have our fingers crossed.
