Edin Dzeko joins Fenerbahce on a two-year deal as the former Inter Milan striker moves to Turkey seeking a final career challenge at the age of 37
Edin Dzeko has agreed to join Turkish side Fenerbahce in what is expected to be a final career move for the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker.
The 37-year-old started in Inter Milan’s Champions League final clash with Manchester City but was unable to guide the Serie A side to European victory.
Dzeko’s contract was left to expire and a move to the Turkish giants has followed where it is hoped that the striker can guide Fenerbahce to a first Super Lig title in nine years.
Pictures showed him arriving in Istanbul on Thursday morning with a medical set to follow before putting pen-to-paper on a deal that will keep the goalscorer at the club until 2025.
Dzeko will sign a two-year contract at Fenerbahce and earn a reported £3.4million-per-season plus add-ons along with a hefty sign on fee included given his free agent status.

Dzeko rejected the opportunity to extend his stay at former side Inter Milan as he wanted a new challenge
Moving to Turkey allows the former Man City man to continue his run in European competition with Fenerbahce securing a place for the Europa Conference League qualifiers, which they hope will turn into a group stage place.
Dzeko was reportedly offered the chance to extend his stay at Inter but decided he wanted to experience a new challenge in a country he hadn’t played in before.
The club announced their capture of the prolific striker on social media, posting: ‘To inform. World-famous striker Edin Dzeko will come to Istanbul to pass the health checks and complete the transfer negotiations. We present it to the public.’
Dzeko scored 14 goals in 52 appearances last season as Inter won the Italian cup and made it to the final of the Champions League under Simone Inzaghi.

Dzeko has found the back of the net 323 times during spells at seven different clubs.
His contract in Italy will expire at the end of June, with Dzeko’s departure requiring the Italian outfit to find a new strike partner for Lautaro Martinez.
Romelu Lukaku is one potential option having returned to Chelsea following the conclusion of his loan spell at Inter and not considered to be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the new season.
