Lisandro Martinez has been pictured back in training in time for pre-season.
Manchester United Football Club suffered a devastating second-leg in the Europa League against Sevilla, losing both Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for prolonged periods. The latter was ruled out for the season.
‘The Butcher’ enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign before going down with injury. Games became much harder without him on the field.
His passing ability, leadership, aggressive style of defending and sheer desire to win was clear for all to see from day one. United really hit the jackpot with this guy and we’ve all been waiting nervously to see whether he’d be ready in time for pre-season.
Well, good news. Licha is back! United have been boosted by the return to training of their key star, ahead of the 2023 pre-season in a couple of weeks time.

It’s unclear how strenuous his training has been at this point, though to have him back available in time for the tour is massive.
I’m a huge believer in pre-season being crucial to having a good campaign. Martinez is looking good to play a full role over in the United States, meaning he should be back to 100% when the serious stuff starts in August.
I’m not sure whether this will change United’s transfer plans in regard to hunting for a centre-half. I still think that Harry Maguire will be on his way out, meaning a new defender will be brought in.
Honestly, I cannot tell you how happy seeing Licha back out on the grass makes me. This guy would have been in the mix to win the club Player of the Year award if not for injury. That’s just how crucial he has been.
