Man United have been in touch with Adrien Rabiot and his people, over a potential transfer to the club.
It seems pretty clear that Erik ten Hag is intent on signing a new midfielder this summer. From Mason Mount, to Moises Caicedo, with many others in between. Manchester United are looking to strengthen in that area.
Today’s rumour brings a familiar name back to the table; Adrien Rabiot.
United were linked with a move to bring in the Frenchman somewhat heavily last summer, though the player rejected the deal that was on the table from the Old Trafford side. At that time, he wanted a higher weekly wage than the Reds were offering.
Now, The Athletic have provided an update on Rabiot, claiming that United ‘make contact’ with the player’s representatives over a proposed Reds move this summer.
The 28-year-old would become a free agent at the end of this month, though his current club, Juventus, are still looking to keep him in Turin.
Seemingly, Ten Hag is still keen on signing the World Cup winner Rabiot, just as he was twelve months ago.
In terms of what’s changed, United can now offer Rabiot Champions League football. It also looks like the Reds finally have a clear plan and structure in place, with a manager they genuinely trust to take this side forward.
Simply put, for any player, an Old Trafford switch is a more attractive proposition than it was twelve months ago.
A move to bring in Rabiot would offer more tactical flexibility, depth and a winning mentality in a key position. The question remains, what sort of wages will Rabiot command? And this time, will United give in to those demands?
