Dean Henderson believes he will be departing Man United this summer.
Changes are afoot at Manchester United. Erik ten Hag has big plans to help turn this squad into one that annually challenges for the big trophies.
In the goalkeeper position, the gaffer could shake things up dramatically. David de Gea is now just days away from seeing his contract expire and becoming a free agent, while Dean Henderson’s future is also up in the air.
Recently, we covered a claim which stated he was close to sealing a permanent move to Nottingham Forest. That is yet to happen, though it’s looking likely.
The latest update in the saga comes from the Manchester Evening News. They say that the United star is ‘convinced’ he will seal a permanent exit away from the club this summer, heading to Nottingham Forest.
Henderson is understood to be ‘perplexed’ by the suggestion that he could stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
According to the report, Henderson is believed to have returned from his summer break, but the Reds’ complex goalkeeper situation could delay his departure.
Obviously, the club want to find out what’s happening with De Gea, before committing to a sale of Henderson.
If United can get in excess of £20m for Hendo, that’d be good business that would bolster up the transfer pot that Ten Hag at his disposal – though if De Gea leaves, it’ll all be spent on a keeper and then some.
After Henderson’s scathing comments on United last summer, it was always going to be likely that he’d go permanently. Ten Hag never struck me as the type of manager who’d put up with that attitude inside his dressing room.
