Zidane Iqbal has completed his move to FC Utrecht, signing on a permanent deal.
Manchester United Football Club shocked the world a few days ago, when news surfaced suggesting that Zidane Iqbal may well be on his way out of the club on a permanent deal.
The young midfielder, who looked super sharp on pre-season tour, has apparently been deemed surplus to requirements by Erik ten Hag, in a shock transfer away for the Iraqi international.
Now, his new club, FC Utrecht, have confirmed the deal. Iqbal was pictured all-smiles wearing his new jersey for the Eredivisie club.
This is a genuine chance and opportunity for Zidane to play regular football, which can only be a positive for his development as a young professional footballer.
Yes, it’s sad to see him moving away from the Theatre of Dreams, though this is the decision that Ten Hag has made whether we like it or not. We have to trust the gaffer.

Word on the street is that United have a 40% sell-on clause in Zidane’s contract, so if he does continue to grow as a player, there’s a very good chance United will be at the front of the queue to bring him back. Obviously, that’s pretty smart on the Reds’ part.
For Zidane, it’s now about proving United wrong. He looked so sharp during pre-season and I’m still pretty shocked the club have decided to let him go for about £850k.
I suppose it paves the way for Kobbie Mainoo to move up the pecking order, with Ten Hag clearly a bigger believer in the Stockport-born man than Iqbal.
Best of luck, Zidane!
