Sources still believe they’ll be a positive conclusion in regard to a Man United move to sign Mason Mount.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Manchester United have been pushing hard to sign Mason Mount recently. The Englishman has an uncertain future at Chelsea, with the Old Trafford club trying to take advantage of that situation.
The latest we heard that Chelsea were standing firm, though set for talks with United this week.
Well, according to Fabrizio Romano, those talks have now taken place. Apparently, sources ‘remain confident’ of a ‘positive’ outcome on Unitde’s move to sign the 24-year-old.
More talks are set to take place ‘soon’, with this week considered the ‘crucial’ moment to make a final decision on any Mount transfer.
It goes without saying that both teams will want a conclusion sooner rather than later, with pre-season now just around the corner.
Suddenly, it feels like United could sign Mount again, when all looked a little dead in the water a few days ago.
When you weigh up the situation, it’s absolutely in Chelsea’s best interests to cash in on Mount now. After all, they could lose him for nothing, to Manchester United, in twelve months’ time. That’s why I believe the £55m bid that’s on the table is more than generous.
When the Stamford Bridge club understand that United will not go any higher, they’ll come crawling back to United, accepting the offer that has now been on the table for the last week or so.
Mount will be an underrated piece of business if/when this deal gets done. He’s an excellent footballer with great technical ability. Hopefully, we’re not waiting for too much longer before a deal is complete.
