Man United are set to make their first offer to sign Andre Onana tonight.
David de Gea’s Manchester United contract is now just a matter of hours away from expiring. Erik ten Hag seemingly has a big decision to make in regard to filling that void.
Andre Onana is undoubtedly the number one target right now, though he will not come cheapy if Inter Milan are to be persuaded to cash in.
The goalkeeper enjoyed an excellent first season in Italy, though the Serie A club could be forced to cash in, as they look to generate some funds in order to offset their lack of Champions League football on the table.
Now, Gianluca Di Marzio has provided an update on that front. The reliable Italian believes that United are set to make a ‘first official offer’ for the 27-year-old tonight. On top of that, talks between United and Inter are ‘progressing quickly’.
According to Di Marzio, Inter hope that the offer will fit in line with their demands of €50m + bonuses, which would be accepted.
Honestly, that was always going to be the going rate for Onana, who is under contract for the foreseeable and coming off the back of some great form.
Stylistically, it doesn’t get more perfect than Onana. Ten Hag wants someone who can play out from the back and there’s probably no keeper in the world who is calmer in possession than the ex-Ajax man.
Don’t forget that Ten Hag and Onana have worked together previously over in the Netherlands, so if a deal does happen, that could make the transition that little bit easier for the goalkeeper.
Now that a deal for Mount looks all-but wrapped up, it’s good to see United setting their sights on other targets.
