Man United are apparently in a rush to sign Andre Onana, with a bid expected shortly.
David de Gea’s contract has expired, though Manchester United are set for face-to-face talks with the Spaniard shortly.
It’s still unclear who the Red Devils will trust as their number one going forward. Will they stick with De Gea? Or twist and bring in someone new.
Andre Onana is among the names linked with potentially filling that void, though he’ll cost a pretty penny from Inter Milan.
The claim comes from Gazzetta dello Sport (Saturday print edition), with the translation coming via Sport Witness. They go pretty big, claiming that United are ‘in a hurry’ to sign the 27-year-old.
To further add to that, a bid is expected for the Cameroonian in the ‘next few hours’.
According to the report, United were supposed to meet with Piero Ausilio in the Balearic Islands yesterday, though those plans were scuppered due to Inter having some other urgent transfer business to attend to.
That bid from United is expected sooner rather than later and it’s believed Inter want that offer to be worth around €50m, with various add-ons and bonuses included. You’d expect the Red Devils will open the bidding with a lower fee.
What’s interesting is that Ten Hag and United Sporting Director, David Harrison, have now ‘made their choice’ on De Gea and they would like to move in a different direction.
This backs up the news that the club have allowed De Gea’s contract to wind down, meaning that United could well and truly be done with the Spaniard.
No doubt United aren’t relishing the prospect of spending big money on a shot-stopper, though needs-must at the current time.
