Man United are still showing an interest in signing Porto forward, Mehdi Taremi.
A new forward should be atop Manchester United’s transfer wishlist right now. The Old Trafford side desperately need that forward who is a guaranteed source of goals, though finding the right player is neither easy nor cheap.
With limited funds available and many other holes to fill in the squad, there’s still a chance that the Red Devils more for a cheaper option. Not too long ago, the 20-time Premier League champions were linked with a move to sign Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto.
Now, Portuguese media, Jornal de Notícias, with the translation coming via Sport Witness, believe that’s still the case.
According to their exclusive, United remain interested in signing the 30-year-old striker this summer, with Erik Ten Hag sad to be an admirer of the forward. He’s also been following the Iranian for some time.
Porto will not sell their star striker, who scored 31 goals across all competitions last season, for anything less than €20m. Obviously, that’s five times cheaper than how much it’d take to lure Harry Kane to the Theatre of Dreams.
I find it interesting that United are being linked with a veteran striker again, with Ten Hag seemingly looking for someone slap-bang in the middle of their prime.
He’ll know that the need for that man who can score with his only chance of the match is an absolute necessity. Too many games were lost because of bad finishing last season and that simply has to change if United are to mount any sort of serious title challenge next term.
Is Taremi that man? I’m not so sure, though we have to trust in Ten Hag.
