Man United have made an offer for Andre Onana, though talks will continue.
Manchester United Football Club will need to find themselves a new shot-stopper this summer.
The Red Devils lost David de Gea, with the Spaniard moving on as a free agent. Though there remains a chance he’ll still renew with the Old Trafford side.
However, Erik ten Hag is now looking at his other options. Of which there are plenty. Dean Henderson could work his way into the team, while the likes of David Raya and Andre Onana have been linked with a potential transfer.
The Inter Milan shot-stopper could well be sold this summer, with the Serie A club set to struggle financially due to the lack of Champions League football on the table. They may well be forced to cash in on the Cameroonian.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, United have made their first ‘official bid’ to sign the 27-year-old. However, that bid of €40m + €5m has been rejected.
Further contacts will take place ‘soon’, though Inter have placed a deadline of the 20th July to complete the transfer, after which they will not be negotiating over the sale of Onana.
I’d fully expect United to go back in with another bid in the not-too-distant future, as it seems like Onana is now the man that the Red Devils want to sign to fill their shot-stopping problem.
His ability with the ball at feet, coupled with command of penalty area, means this would be an astute piece of business if the Red Devils can get it done.
I still maintain my belief that bringing in a top class goalkeeper is more important than acquiring a thigh level striker.
