Man United are closing in on a new Marcus Rashford contract.
Manchester United are in the market for a new forward this summer, with the Red Devils looking to add more goals to the team.
Alongside that, Erik ten Hag is doing his utmost to secure Marcus Rashford’s future. The Englishman is into the final year of his terms at the Theatre of Dreams, with fans like myself starting to get a little twitchy…
Well, the Daily Mail have provided us with some positive news on that front. They state that United are ‘finalising details’ on a new contract for the 25-year-old. However, alongside that, they hope for a ‘breakthrough’ in the search for a new striker.
Rasmus Hojlund and Kolo Muani are linked with possible transfers to Salford Quays this summer, though we’d like to focus on the Rashford contract news for now.
I’d argue that securing Rashy’s future is the most important thing. His goals, assists and genuine threat was on full display last season. It would be absolutely criminal if United allowed him to walk away for no transfer fee.
I understand that Rashford wants to see what happens with club ownership before committing his future to his boyhood side, though it’s good news to hear that United are progressing nicely with this deal.
In an ideal world, it’ll all be signed and sealed before the season starts. More than anything, that would end all speculation about Rashford’s future going into a crucial season, both on a personal and team level.
Having him solely focused on his football is absolutely the most important thing. Whatever sort of weekly wage it takes, United need to iron out these minor details quickly.
