Man United are all set to make an offer to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
A new striker has to be atop the list of needs for Manchester United. The Red Devils are crying out for that 25+ goal-a-season striker who can take this Erik ten Hag side to the next level.
Marcus Rashford was the main source of goals last term, though it’s pretty widely accepted that he’s better off the left flank. Finding the perfect partner for the Englishman could be key to any success the Reds want to have in 2023/24.
Rasmus Hojlund is among the names linked with filling that void, particularly as a deal to bring in Harry Kane looks dead in the water.
The latest update in that saga comes from La Repubblica, with the translation via Sport Witness. They claim that Atalanta were expecting an ‘incoming bid’ from the reds for Hojlund.
Well, La Repubblica say that United are ‘ready to offer’ £38m (€45m) to sign Hojlund, which is expected to fall way below Atalanta’s asking price.
The Serie A club want to start at around £51.5m (€60m) to even consider selling Hojlund during this transfer window. According to the report, they are ‘not willing to give discounts’.
United’s issue here is the fact that Juventus are also keen on Hojlund. Atalanta are hoping a bidding war will take place between the two sides, in order to bump up the eventual cost of the young Dane.
In terms of fit, Hojlund would be a good signing. He’s a hard worker who’d lead the press from the front, though United fans would have to show patience.
This is still a young kid we’re talking about here. Inconsistencies will be firmly within his game for at least a couple of seasons, so if the move happens, it’s up to us to keep the faith when the going gets tough.
