Man United have eyes on Sofyan Amrabat, though a deal is not advanced at this moment.
Manchester United Football Club have already signed one midfielder this summer, in the form of Mason Mount. We just assumed the Englishman would be the only move the Reds would make in that area of the field.
However, that may not be the case. The Old Trafford club could further look to dip their toes in the water in central midfield, with Sofyan Ambrabat being talked up as a genuine option.
It’s journalist Florian Plettenberg with the update. He took to Twitter to share his latest information on a potential United move for the man from Fiorentina.
According to the story, United are ‘monitoring’ the 26-year-old midfielder ‘very closely’. A deal is not advanced, but first talks have already taken place. That hints that the Red Devils could be serious about making this move happen.
As things stand, l doesn’t feel imminent, though Plettenberg believes it could become a ‘hot topic’ later on in this transfer window.
United will have to act somewhat quickly, with Amrabat also being eyed by FC Bayern.
The midfield maestro enjoyed a stunning World Cup with Morocco just before the turn of the year. He’s also had an excellent season at club level, continuing to prove his worth to any prospective buyer.
Erik ten Hag is clearly trying to get more mobile in the midfield region. First Mount, now possibly Amrabat. The lack of legs cost United in some big games last term and it’s something the club is looking to rectify going forward.
You’d imagine that the club would have to sell before they can buy, particularly with a new goalkeeper and striker higher atop the list of priorities right now.
