Jadon Sancho is set to be given one more season to prove his worth at Man United.
Erik ten Hag has major plans at Manchester United. We’ve certainly seen his ruthless streak on full display over the last twelve months. The Dutchman is in win-now mode. He will not wait around for anyone, just ask Cristiano Ronaldo.
The gaffer has to continue that trend as he looks to return United back to the top table. The dressing room is still overstacked with players on larger wages than they probably deserve. Fixing that issue is tough, due to said wages.
One man who is struggling is Jadon Sancho. The Englishman came to Old Trafford with promise aplenty, though he’s yet to live up to that hype. A change in manager, position, and off-field issue hasn’t helped. Though again, that’s not Ten Hag’s problem. He will not hang around.
According to journalist Jacque Talbot, Sancho is now approaching his last opportunity. According to the report, Ten Hag is set to give the £71m signing ‘one more season’ to impress, before actively looking to move away from the ex-Borussia Dortmund man.
There’s a small chance Sancho may leave this summer if a ‘huge offer’ comes in, though that’s ‘very unlikely’ given his super high wages.
I remember being so excited when Sancho signed. This young man was tearing it up in the Bundesliga and United literally spent years working on this deal. Sadly, it just hasn’t worked out quite yet.
That’s not to take away from Sancho’s immense talent. He’s a truly gifted footballer. However, he’s just struggled in pretty much every aspect from day one.
I do appreciate the fact that he’s being given one more opportunity to prove his worth, though I get the feeling the damage is already done and I have a tough time trying to piece together where Sancho is going to fit in.
