Man United have named a youthful 26-man squad for their pre-season game vs Leeds United.
Manchester United Football Club are all set to play their first pre-season game tomorrow, taking on an old enemy in Leeds United, over in Oslo.
The game itself is set to be a fiery affair, albeit officially billed as a ‘friendly’ match. I can tell you now, there’s no such thing as a friendly in this fixture. It’s going to be an intriguing game of football, as Erik ten Hag looks to continue to move this team forward.
It doesn’t feel like too long ago since United were in action, though I must admit, I’m ready for it all to start again. Anyway, ahead of the fixture, the club have officially confirmed that a 26-strong party will head to Oslo for this one.
It’s a young-looking travelling party, with the likes of Joe Hugill, Kobbie Mainoo, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, and many other young stars, ready to get their opportunity.
Check out the Man United squad in full here:
Goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar.
Defenders: Alvaro Fernandez, Rhys Bennett, Will Fish, Marc Jurado, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams.
Midfielders: Toby Collyer, Fred, Dan Gore, Hannibal, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Maxi Oyedele, Charlie Savage.
Forwards: Amad, Noam Emeran, Omari Forson, Joe Hugill, Jadon Sancho, Shola Shoretire.
Honestly, I’m looking forward to this one. There’s some unfamiliar names in there for some fans, though many of them are mega-talented. Keep an eye on Alvaro Fernandez in that left-back position, while I’m a huge fan of the aforementioned Mainoo, who is probably the biggest talent at the club right now.
As is always the case with these friendly fixtures, it’s not about the result, more about the process and development. It’s also about getting those minutes in the legs ahead of the serious stuff starting next month.
